Iran assembly, Supreme Leader, Council guard, Parliament and President Election system
The Assembly of Expert’s
On the highest level in Iran is the Assembly of Expert’s, which is chosen every Eight years through General Elections. There are 86 members in Iranian Assembly. The last election for the Assembly of Expert’s was held in 2006. The assembly of Expert’s was elected for the time period of 2007-2015.
Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei
The assembly of 86 Expert’s (above) than selects the Supreme leader for Iran : Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The supreme leader is selected for the lifetime. Supreme Leader’s words are the last words in any case. The Assembly of Expert’s have the right to remove the Supreme Leader (Ayatollah Ali Khamenei) at any time.
Council Guard
Supreme Leader than appoints 12 Members of the council guard. These 12 members of guardian council have the veto power against parliaments decesions and upper word against parliament. Guardian Council is actually critcised as it increases the influence of Army of the Guardians of the Islamic Revolution (separate from the Iran’s Country Army) can interfere and holds the upper hand on the political, cultural and economic life in Iran as Guardian Council prefers the military candidates against the reform candidates.
Iran’s President
Iran’s President is actually chosen by the Iranian people in the votes for 4 years, but Iran’s president in the reality is the subordinate of the Supreme Leader!! In Iran the president (Mahmoud Ahmadinejad) does not have full control on agreements with foreign countries, on nuclear progrms of Iran, foreign policies and the armed forces of Iran, they are all under the control of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Parliament of Iran
Iran’s Parliament currently having 290 seats. All the 290 members of the parliament are approved and tested by the Guardian Council. The current speaker of the parliament is Ali Larijani.
Now for me this is amazing that the president of the country which is elected by the country people, is just a show piece. All the main decisions are being made by the Supreme Leader and he holds all the Military power as well. This is the main reason I think why Ayatollah Ali Khamenei is too loud against the Iranian Nation. But there are those 86 Assembly members as well, why they are not reacting any thing at all against the latest developments is for me ununderstandable. And I think only if they say any thing, only than can be the life a little bit better for the Irani Citizens.
